FUN RUN

LS4 CPSF and Welriet NPC, hosted our first Take Back our veld Fun Run/Walk and Market day on 11 March 2023.

With lots of excitement surrounding the day, the volunteers put in long hours with lots of sweat, blood, tears and sun burn, to ensure the day was a success. Each and every one of the people who assisted be it with clean up’s, admin, preparing the course, organizing, delivering, packing bags, marshalling etc. we thank you for helping make the day so special.

To our Welriet Contributing members’ thank you without your contribution of R80 per month we would not be able to host events like these or keep fighting to ensure our community is safe and clean.

To the Nature conservation department a huge thank you for allowing us to host the fun walk as well as all the help in preparing the veld for the day, as well as allowing your staff to help with keeping the area clean on the day.

To our Sponsors thank you for all your support. Please visit the Welriet website were all the sponsors are listed.

The vendors had great support from the community and thank you for that.

The 5km route was done by 274 Adults and 70 Children, the 2km Route was done by 149 Adults and 58 Children with 102 dogs joining in the excitement of the day. Some brave individuals ran the course and some did more than one lap. Everyone commented on the beauty of the Garstkloof nature reserve. Some people stating that they had not realized how big the area is.

SAPS Lyttleton did a demonstration and TMPD K9 unit walked around the stalls meeting and greeting people. Security companies Bull Securit, Brinant and Fidelity ADT were on sight to meet and greet.

We have had numerous requests to host this event every quarter. To allow us to do this we need YOU the community to contribute to Welriet NPC at only R80 per month so that we are in a position to do more events like this as well as so many other projects we would like to tackle, to improve our community.
